Lot Essay

The present lot is one of the exceedingly rare examples of Rolex Day-Date with black dial, furthermore embellished by diamond-set numerals and bezel. Beyond its phenomenal rarity, the aesthetic effect imparted to the timepiece by this dial and bezel combination is astounding. The black matte dial is the ideal stage for the diamond-set details to, literally, shine brightest. The gilt designations perfectly match the luxurious and very well preserved gold case, and even the luminous accents have taken with age a somehow golden hue. The combination of masculine gold case and diamond-set details makes this watch a mesmerizing piece which will enthrall with its charm and elegance its next owner for years to come.
