Lot Essay

The present lot represents Gübelin's take on one of the most classic of the complications: the triple calendar chronograph. The Swiss company's approach to the subject is sporty and elegant at the same time, with windows for the day and month and outer date ring. A cursory glance is enough to notice the uncanny resemblance to the famed Rolex Killy line of calendar chronographs, and the similarity goes much deeper than simple aesthetics: as a matter of fact this watch share with the Killy line the revered 72C calibre. Adding to the overall appeal of this striking timepiece, it is offered in pristine condition: the dial unspoiled, and the case only very gently polished, perfectly retaining its proportions. The crisp engraving on the case back is further confirmation of the utmost care this watch has always been treated with.
