According to the Archives of Omega, the present watch was delivered to the United Kingdom on 11 September 1963.
With Omega International Guarantee dated 18 December 1963 made out by J.W. Benson Ltd., one of Omega's representatives in London, period presentation box and outer packaging. The International Guarantee bears the hand-written number 19833073 whereas the number of the watch is 19833075, leading to the assumption that the last digit was mistakenly misspelled.
Reference CK 2998 which became reference ST 105.002 in 1962, was called the "Pre-Moon" (before the first step on the Moon). It had the Hippocampus engraved on the case back which was later replaced by the engraved inscription "first watch worn on the moon". The model differs from the first series by the Alpha hands, the tachymetre scale now in black aluminium and calibrated to 500-60 km/h instead of the previous "Base 1000 300-60 km/h".
The present watch stands out by its very good, original overall condition, still retaining the original crown featuring the old Omega logo, original bezel, the original crystal displaying the micro size Omega symbol in the centre and the semi-extendable bracelet stamped 3.69 and 7912.
