The octagonal case, applied with black enamel and green 'pâte de verre', to the carved onyx and sculpted jade sides, enhanced with rose-cut diamond details, opening to reveal a mirror, two powder compartments, a lipstick holder and a propelling pencil, 1920s, 10.1 cm, with French assay marks for gold
With maker's mark of Atelier Strauss, Allard, Meyer, no. 10026

Strauss, Allard et Meyer (Place des Vosges) were one of the most successful of the Parisian Art Deco workshops, specialising in vanity cases, many of which were in the 'chinoiserie style', commissioned by such firms as Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier and Lacloche.
