Lot Essay

We are grateful to Bernhard Schnackenburg for confirming the attribution on the basis of photographs (private communication, May 2008). Dr. Schnackenburg compares this large painting of a barn interior with the signed and dated painting formerly in the Dr. Hinrich Bischoff collection, now with Arnoldi-Livie in Munich. In both cases, he suggests a dating of 1641.
