Lot Essay

U Lun Gywe was born in 1930 and is highly regarded as the old master of Burmese paintings. He has also been a mentor for generations of younger artists. He is well known for his dynamic paintings with an expert blending of colours, many of them celebrating the female form. In this painting female figures are seen at a temple festival, in a scene abundant with colours and vibrancy.
