Lot Essay

Chang Li-Keng was a famous battlefield news reporter in World War II for the Central Daily News in China. In 1949 he moved to Taipei with the newspaper and it was during his position as Chief Editor of the Art and Entertainment's section of what was the only news publication in Taiwan, that he met the artist Huang Junbi. Their friendship grew and this painting was a gift in 1950 from the artist to Mr. Chang in memory of their pleasant conversations together after an island trip.
