Lot Essay

The recipient of this painting is Zhang Renshi (1911-1972), a native of Guangdong. Zhang apprenticed under Ye Shihong and Gui Nanping and focused on literati study, excelling in Peony paintings. He later moved to Hong Kong and was a paintings teacher.
