Marguerite de Bayser-Gratry commissioned this panther directly from François Pompon in 1924 and It was delivered to her in October 1925. It is part of an edition limited to four or five casts, all executed between 1924 and 1926 in a variety of patina: black, brown and the antique green patina of the present lot that Pompon used from 1924 onwards.
