Lot Essay

Accompanied by a Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch in 2002 and its subsequent sale on December 17th of the same year, and a Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated February 22nd, 2003. Further accompanied by a Patek Philippe leather portfolio with product literature.

The reference 5102 is an astronomical wristwatch that borrows the principle of the celestial canopy from the most complicated wristwatch ever produced by Patek Philippe - reference 5002 Sky Moon Tourbillon. The nocturnal sky of the northern hemisphere rotates to show the apparent angular motion of the stars and moon as well as the progression of the phases of the moon. Hours and minutes are displayed by two pierced white hands. A delicate elliptical contour on the inside of the glass frames the portion of the sky that can be seen from all cities that share the latitude of Geneva.

This model was launched in 2002, first in white gold only, to be later replaced with yellow gold and finally with pink gold and platinum combination.

To the best of our knowledge this watch has never before been offered in public.
