Lot Essay

A copy with differences after Daniel Hopfer's (1470-1536) etching of David and Goliath (Hollstein 3) which is itself a free copy in reverse after Marcantonio Raimondi's (circa 1480-before 1534) engraving after Raphael (1483-1520) (Bartsch 10).

An attribution to Friedrich Brentel (1580-1651) has been suggested.
