Lot Essay

‘Then, the other major thing which I guess I got most excited about of any of the work since the book is the steel drawings... So I liked those very much and now I'm extremely excited to get some new ones going where they're colored instead of black. The lines are in color. I've got some studies back there I'm quite excited about’ (T. Wesselmann, quoted in I. Sandler, ‘Interview with Tom Wesselmann, 1984’, in Smithsonian Archives of American Art Online, https://www.aaa.si.edu/collections/interviews/oral-history-interview-tom-wesselmann-12439, [accessed 25 May 2015]).
