Toshio Yoshida was a Gutai member from the year of the group's formation in 1954 to it's dissolution in 1972. He served as Gutai's manager and publicist and produced highly experimental works including an installation Foam A (1965), which comprised a small pump attached to a flask containing a liquid solution, from which foam would spill profusely. During his early Gutai career he painted with a bicycle, the tires making marks as he rode around (1956), and used fire to sear marks onto wood panels in his works Burn by CF (1954).
