Lot Essay
Nasaka Senkichiro graduated from the Department of Japanese Painting, Kyoto City University of Arts in 1952 after also studying at the Nakanoshima Western-Style Painting Institute and Kawabata Painting School, Tokyo. He joined Gutai in 1965, remaining until 1972 and like other Gutai artists in the 1960s and early 70s, he was also interested in technology and progress, utilising electric motors to apply paint and creating large installations with tubes.
