Fling and Fuss is a case in point of Sue Williams notion of “drawing as an urgent and immediate form of non-verbal communication.” (Sue Williams ‘Statement’, nomorepink.com [accessed: 22 September 2015].) In this work from 2000, the viewer is presented with Williams’s beautifully striking abstract gestures that mimic the lines in her more figurative paintings. This similarity may insinuate the aggressive attitude and subject matter presented in her other works in a more subtle way.
