Lot Essay

Katharina Fritsch’s Postkarte 4 (Paris) evokes a fantastical version of Paris, inspired by the songs of Maurice Chevalier, the city’s vibrant boulevards, and a young Audrey Hepburn. The larger than life croissant and coffee cup and its execution in nostalgic black-and-white is in contrast to the high-tech material used, alluding to the city’s intermix of tradition and modernity.
