A leading proponent of the Pictures Generation, including Richard Prince, Sherie Levine and Cindy Sherman, Louise Lawler is an appropriation artist par excellence. Lawler is known for her photographs of other artist’s works placed in various contexts from private homes to museum and gallery installations, in which she creates a dramatic re-staging of known art works.
