Lot Essay

In You Thaddeus Strode displays his critical engagement with popular culture. He chooses an image of a cowboy on a horse, which gallops towards us, as if from a distance. Yet its diminutive size is less evocative of it being positioned in deep space, but rather as if a child had placed a figurine on a carpet, such is its frozen, appropriated character.
