Lot Essay

The present lot relates to an engraving of similar composition by Joannes and Lucas van Doetecum of c.1559, published by Hieronymus Cock, from an unknown work by Brueghel in the Rijksmuseum, Amsterdam (see M. Sellink, Bruegel, The Complete Paintings, Drawings and Prints, Gante, Ludion, 2007, p. 132, no. 78).
