Jacqueline Matisse Monnier and the Association Marcel Duchamp have confirmed the authenticity of this work.

The present work relates to the fifth disc, Poisson Japonais, from Duchamp’s Rotoreliefs (Schwarz, no. 441). This particular Rotorelief, when placed on the moving turntable depicts a small koi swimming through water.
