L'influence de Francis Joseph Bruguière sur l'Avant-Garde américaine est essentielle. Au moment du développement de l'abstraction à partir des années vingt, il expériment les expositions multiples, les solarisations et comme dans cette oeuvre les mises en scène de papier découpé qu'il photographie sous des éclairages variés et intenses laissant apparaître des formes complexes sous des jeux de lumière et d'ombre.

The influence of Francis Joseph Bruguière on the American Avant-Garde in essential. During the researches on abstraction in the 1920s, he experimented with multiple exposures, solarizations and staging. In this work Bruguière uses paper cutters which he photographs under various lights with different intensity which reveals complex forms in shapes and lights.
