Lot Essay

Accompanied by an OMEGA Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch on 6 August 1968 and its subsequent delivery to France. Further accompanied by an OMEGA International Guarantee dated 23 June 1969 and stamped Aéroport Orly France, and an OMEGA presentation box.

The reference 145.012 was produced from 1967/68 to 1969. Amazingly, this reference became part of NASA’s inventory of Speedmasters, too, as it slowly became available for delivery by Norman N. Norris, OMEGA'S agent at that time in New York. It was thus worn in space in several later NASA missions and left its mark on space exploration.

The present example features an ‘SP’ designation on the inside of the case back following the reference number, signifying that it had “Special Poussoirs” or “Special Pushers” for the chronograph with enhanced water resistance.

An example of the reference 145.012 is illustrated and described in OMEGA, A Journey Through Time by Marco Richon, 2007, p. 603.
