Lot Essay

Accompanied by an OMEGA Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch on 13 February 1973 its subsequent delivery to Virgin Islands.

The present watch is OMEGA's first automatic chronograph and is fitted with the caliber 1040. With date at the 3 o’clock position, this watch was available with a black dial and also the exquisite blue dial featured here. Contrasting well with the orange tipped 60-minute hand, the blue dial emphasizes the sporty nature of the OMEGA Speedmaster ‘Marks,’ and is offered in very good condition.

An example of the reference 176.002 is illustrated and described in OMEGA, A Journey Through Time by Marco Richon, 2007, p. 609.
