Lot Essay

Accompanied by an OMEGA Extract from the Archives confirming delivery of the present watch in 1986 to Japan. Further accompanied by an OMEGA fitted presentation box.

This reference is the first Speedmaster model to be produced with moon phases. To add to its allure, it was only produced in approximately 1,300 examples for three years between 1985 and 1988. In addition, the present watch is fitted with a modification of the celebrated caliber 861, the 866 that included a moon phase and date complications. The present watch is made more superior by maintaining its original bracelet. This bracelet reference notifies us that it was produced towards the start of production. These early bracelets are highly rare and incredibly sought after by collectors. This reference was later replaced with the bracelet stamped 1450/808.

The present watch with movement number 47'132'243 is photographed and described in Moonwatch Only, The Ultimate OMEGA Speedmaster Guide by Grégoire Rossier and Anthony Marquié, p. 336 and 337.
