Lot Essay

Accompanied by an OMEGA Certificate of Authenticity, International Warranty dated 18 May 2009, Chronometer Certificate, pictograms card, limited series card, operating instructions, original sale tag, original invoice, fitted presentation box and outer packaging. Further accompanied by a silver coin representing the Apollo 11 mission Eagle and with the inscription APOLLO 11 40th ANNIVERSARY.

For a special new series to celebrate the Apollo 11 mission, two versions were available in 2009. The present watch is part of the first version, a limited edition of 7,969 examples. The second version was limited to platinum and made in a series of 69 examples.

This attractive wristwatch is immediately identifiable by the Apollo 11 mission badge which is situated at the 9 o'clock subsidiary dial. It is silver for the steel version and yellow gold for the platinum model. Interestingly, the mission badge is replicated on the coin which accompanies this lot and has the same 42mm diameter as the OMEGA Speedmaster.

The present watch is further identified by the time of lunar landing which occurred on this mission. It is proudly scripted in red to read; 02:56 GMT, and centralized below the 12 o'clock position. Additionally, this watch is in like-new condition and thus would be a superb addition to any collection.
