The rectangular box with indented corners, slightly domed close-fitting cover and high interior rim, the black lacquer ground decorated in gold hiramaki-e, takamaki-e, kirikane and silver foil, the cover depicting a boat beside a rocky outcrop with trees, two sides of the box with a continuous riverbank scene and the other two sides depicting hills, trees and stylised water, the interior of the cover decorated with pine, maple, flowers and grasses on hills beside water against a nashiji ground, the box interior in sparse nashiji, pewter rims
