Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 19 December 2003, additional case back, setting pin, product literature, instruction manual, leather wallet, fitted presentation box and outer packaging. Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with opaline white dial and indexes in pink gold in 2001 and its subsequent sale on 21 October 2003.

Fresh to the market, the present reference 3970 in pink gold is preserved in very good overall condition: the case is sharp, the lugs are well defined, the hallmarks are crisp, the dial is intact - this example should delight its future owner.

Patek Philippe's celebrated reference 3970 was launched in 1986 and replaced reference 2499 (please see Lot 2454 in this sale). The first generation was fitted with snap on case backs. Around 1989, the model was modified to a water-resistant version with screw back and was delivered with an additional glazed display back. Reference 3970 remained in production until 2004 when it was replaced by reference 5970 (please see Lot 2630 in this sale).
