Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 15 July 2009, additional case back, setting pin, product literature, instruction manual, leather wallet, fitted presentation box and outer packaging. Furthermore delivered with Patek Philippe Extract from the Archives confirming production of the present watch with slate-grey dial, Breguet numerals in yellow gold in 2009 and its subsequent sale on 16 July 2009.

The present reference “fifty-fifty” is an incredibly appealing example distinguished by its highly unusual dial. For many collectors, this is a rare opportunity to view this exclusive example as it is believed that the reference had been manufactured for a selected few of Patek Philippe’s most loyal collectors.

The Certificate of Origin states that this reference 5050 left Patek Philippe’s workshops with this ultra rare “ardoise soleil” dial paired with the attractive Breguet numerals.

Discontinued in 2002, the present watch was manufactured after the reference was originally discontinued in an extremely limited number for a selected handful and very important collectors.

Reference 5050 is today a highly sought after collector’s watch, a modern classic enjoying popularity amongst both scholars and aficionados for day to day wear.
