Lot Essay

With F.P. Journe Certificat dated 23 June 2010 confirming production of the present watch with 425 baguette-cut and 201 brilliant-cut diamonds weighing approximately 73.00 carats, instruction manual, fitted presentation box and outer packaging.

François-Paul Journe took a long and rigorous path to achieve his aspirations in making a watch brand that he is proud of. He spent approximately 10 years mastering the craft of constructing pocket watches. In 1992, Journe decided to create his first prototype wristwatch - a watch that was inspired from his first pocket watch creations. This prototype wristwatch is distinguished by the complication of combining a one minute tourbillon with a remontoir - also known as the Souveraine Tourbillon found in his collection today.

This present lot is a fine and rare example of the Souveraine Tourbillon, however, the rarity of this watch is eminent because of the diamonds on its dial, case and the bracelet of the watch. To the best of our knowledge, there are approximately 20 sets of watches made. 15 of these watches come with a leather strap and a diamond-set, deployant buckle. Less than 5 of these watches are made with a bracelet strap (2 in diamonds, 1 in emerald, and 1 in ruby, the last one being uncertain).
