Lot Essay

With Patek Philippe Certificate of Origin dated 18 July 2013, instruction manual, leather wallet, slip case, fitted presentation box and outer packaging.

For the very first time, reference 6102 in platinum makes an appearance at Christie’s. Successor of the legendary 5102, reference 6102 upgrades the dial with a date chapter ring without overshadowing the mesmerizing sky chart to the centre of the dial. The present example is fresh to the market and offered here in pristine condition.

Reference 6102 was launched in 2010 and is still in production today. This astronomical wristwatch borrows the principle of the celestial canopy from the most complicated wristwatch ever produced by Patek Philippe - reference 5002 Sky Moon Tourbillon. The nocturnal sky of the northern hemisphere rotates to show the apparent angular motion of the stars and moon as well as the progression of the phases of the moon. Hours and minutes are displayed by two pierced white hands. A delicate elliptical contour on the inside of the glass frames the portion of the sky that can be seen from all cities that share the latitude of Geneva.
