This piece Three Peaks belongs to her self-invented “Dsui Painting” in which she liberates paper from its sole carrier identity and incorporates its texture and layer as well as colour into the composition. Her revolutionary attempt provides new possibilities in painting. Through her emphasis on media’s texture, Tseng Yuho’s work is able to give audience an impact beyond visual experience. The thin veins of rice paper and layered sheets radiate the glow reminiscent of royal kiln porcelain wares, which represents her tribute to traditional culture. Applying ink wash to the background gives the work an aesthetic conception and spirit of Chinese landscape painting. However, in image description, she reduced substantial objects to abstract geometric shapes so as to create a unique charm mixed by the characteristics of the East and the West.
