Claude Picasso has confirmed the authenticity of this work.

According to Claude Picasso the date on the reverse of the sheet is by the hand of the artist's father, José Ruiz y Blasco. In 1903 Picasso returned to Barcelona from Paris, where he would remain for the next fifteen months, and during this time produced over fifty works.
