A LARGE PAINTED ENAMEL BASIN
18TH CENTURY
The basin is decorated in the center of the interior with a pair of mandarin ducks swimming amidst a lush waterscape, with blossoming peony branches growing from rocks, all within an hexalobed cartouche reserved on a green, floral scroll ground. The interior and exterior of the well are similarly decorated with dragons striding amidst turbulent waves and rocks, and the flat, foliate rim is decorated with leafy floral meander. The base is decorated with a spray of two peaches and two strawberries.
18 ¼ in. (46 cm.) diam.
