In addition, the Gemological Institute of America has determined that each of these diamonds exhibits ‘Excellent’ symmetry, polish and cut. While ‘Excellent’ symmetry exhibits fifty-eight perfectly aligned facets with an accuracy of up to 1/200th of an inch; ‘Excellent’ polish confirms the quality of a diamond’s surface condition as a result of the polishing process. Finally, the cut grade considers a round brilliant diamond’s proportions together as a whole, as well as individually. If even just one parameter receives an individual grade less than ‘Excellent’, the entire cut grade is lowered.The following diamonds have also been determined to be Type IIa. Type IIa diamonds are the most chemically pure type of diamond and often have exceptional optical transparency.
