‘Fontana’s creative interest was already fairly well-defined at the beginning of the Thirties: that is the desire to intervene in relation with architecture, the intention of acting spatially… Fontana resolves that instinctive and arbitrary ‘primitivism’ into a figuration that is in its own way almost narrative…’
