Lot Essay

In 2013 François Paul Journe was celebrating his 30 years career as a watchmaker. On this occasion, the master revisited the first watch fully manufactured by himself in 1983, which was also a tourbillon pocket watch. The anniversary watch, subtly cased in sterling silver and pink gold such as the original, features the pocket inspired hinged case back to view the gilt dual-train movement with a one minute revolving tourbillon. The lateral pallet escapement, more compatible with a wristwatch, replaces the original detent escapement. The present watch is a rare opportunity to own a special piece of history from one of the most revered modern watchmakers.
