Lot Essay

According to the Omega Archives, the present watch was shipped to Australia on 18th June 1959.
Very rarely seen on the market and one of the scarcest references of the first Speedmasters, this 2915-3 is preserved in original condition still retaining the alpha hands, bezel, micro-size Omega logo crystal and the original Omega stainless steel semi-extendable bracelet. The present watch furthermore stands out by the very attractive dial, the black colour beautifully harmonizing with the uniformly aged luminous material to numerals and hands.
The reference 2915-3 with alpha hands and black Base 1000 bezel is one of the rarest and most desirable configurations of the legendary reference 2915. It was made in 1959 only and can be considered a transitional model between the references 2915-2 and 2998 with which the 2915-3 shares many features.
