According to the Archives of Piaget, the present "manchette" watch was manufactured in 1971.
Predominantly cased in yellow gold and with a combination of different hardstones, examples of the “manchette” watch in white gold and with exclusively one semi-precious stone, such as the present watch, are extremely rare. It is furthermore preserved in excellent overall condition.
Piaget’s "Manchette" collection waslaunched in the late 1960s/early 1970s, the watches designed for a young and avant-garde female clientele and were characterized by their large bracelets, forming a cone when worn, and the unusual dial materials.
A similar watch in yellow gold and set with lapis lazuli and turquoises is illustrated in Montres et Merveilles de Piaget by F. Cologni, G. Negretti, F. Nencini, p. 72.
