DIAL: white enamel, Arabic numerals
CASE: 18K gold, mandolin-form, band decorated with a painted on enamel musical score “Blaise et Babet”, the back with translucent red enamel and engraved gold pansy flower, the front overlaid with translucent green enamel and set with pearls, gold strings, 62.5 x 25.6 mm.

Lot Essay

The opera “Blaise et Babet” was one of four principal operas written by the French composer Nicolas Dezède (1740-1792). It is unusual to find a specifically identified musical score on a mandolin form watch, presumably the opera had particular significance to the original owner.
