Lot Essay

An extremely attractive example of reference 16758, the present specimen enthralls the beholder with the intense brick tonality of its dial and bezel.
The piece is preserved in very attractive condition: the dial is covered by a gentle patina, telltale sign of an absolutely unrestored dial; the case as well impresses with full proportions and very little sign of wear.
A vintage tool watch – as essentially is the GMT: famously created for pilots – in gold is a contradiction of terms: tool watches had to be sturdy, resistant and reliable, thus they were usually cased in steel. Gold exceptions are extremely rare and equally collectible: the present piece is an example of this rarefied category.
