Lot Essay

The GMT model is another ground-breaking and spectacular timepiece by Greubel Forsey. The GMT features a spectacular three-dimensional temporal representation of a rotating terrestrial globe, offering the wearer a truly unique view of time all over the world. This technical marvel provides a whole new way of perceiving the different time zones. Nestled in a prominent position at 8 o'clock, the 3D titanium sphere is ingeniously secured at just one end of its rotational axis, the South Pole, allowing optimal views. While the globe makes one complete rotation every 24 hours anticlockwise, the Earth's natural rotational direction, the position of the continents can be cross-referenced with the 24-hour, day & night indicator on the equatorial chapter ring.

The movement was crafted with 436 components, 87 of which are used in the tourbillon cage, only weighing an impressive 0.36 grams. The Tourbillon 24 Secondes incliné is Greubel Forsey's third fundamental invention. The T24Si is a single inclined exquisitely finished tourbillon cage that undergoes rapidly changing positions with a high angular velocity, giving the impression that the whole complication is in orbit while offering the wearer a unique display of the tourbillon. Also, two co-axial mainspring barrels connected in series provide a power reserve of 72 hours. Furthermore, the plates and bridges are beautifully hand-finished, frosted, and beveled.

This horological masterpiece is a solid validation of the underlying fundamental inventions of Greubel Forsey, with an objective to reinforce the link between mechanism and indication, as well as the relentless pursuit to improve timekeeping precision. Furthermore, the present watch is in like new condition.
