While the tourbillons of F.P. Journe equipped with remontoire d'égalité are a sight to behold in their own right, when equipped with special material dials they are elevated to an even higher level offering unparalleled pleasure to their owners. It is a great privilege to bring two examples of these incredibly rare watches to market, lots 2830 and 2831, featuring the beautiful lustrous “Ferrari” red lacquered dial and ethereal green tones of jade.
FP Journe had previously used red dials on a small selection of very limited run pieces. The first example was the special edition tourbillon for the Chinese market produced in 2010 with the five yellow stars from the Chinese national flag in place of the usual power reserve indicator arc. This was follow by a very short run of Centigraphe Souverains, the model inspired by the president of the FIA and former GM of Scuderia Ferrari Jean Todt, which were produced for the Institut du Cerveau et de la Moelle épinière of which Mr Todt is vice president. These Centigraphe were produced with “Rosso Corsa” dials and “Giallo Fly” hands, the official names for the shades of red and yellow associated with Ferrari.
The watch offered here is endowed with the beautiful almost iridescent red dial which shimmers in the light and is combined with the standard configuration of the dial for the Tourbillon Nouveau, creating a watch that is both familiar and spectacular, a defining characteristic of the work of F. P. Journe.
