Lot Essay

Corbould was a book and magazine illustrator who worked for Punch, specializing in scenes of country sport, and also contributed to the Graphic. His series of 'Puzzles' for Punch, of which this is one, were a wry commentary on the various inconveniences of London life. Here he pokes fun at the guests crowding into the carriage park at lunchtime for their picnics.
