Marthe Latellier, née Fourton, was one of Helleu's favourite models.
The authenticity of this work, which was first given to Helleu by Paulette Howard-Johnston in 1985, has been confirmed by Frédérique de Watrigant on the basis of a photograph. The present work is registered in the archives of the Association Les Amis de Paul-César Helleu as DE-889.
