Lot Essay

The present watch is one of a small number of automatic Carreras made in yellow gold. It is estimated that only 150 automatic Carreras were made in gold and they are closely associated with drivers for the Ferrari Formula One team. Every Ferrari driver from 1971 to 1979 is said to have received one of the gold Carrera chronographs in addition other Formula One drivers who were brand ambassadors of Heuer at that time.

The present watch is notable for its crisp case and with its dial, hands, and tachymeter ring in excellent condition. It is certainly worthy of being called a “grail” for Heuer chronograph collectors and motorsport enthusiasts.
