Lot Essay

This Heuer “Orange Boy” Autavia is a collector’s dream for its rarity, condition, and the completeness of the original set. The watch is in seemingly unworn condition with the original sticker on the case back, the original Gay Frères bracelet with correct endlinks, the Heuer red racing box, the warranty booklet, sleeve, and Heuer envelope for sending in part of the warranty booklet for registration.

The “Orange Boy” is known in a small number of examples, perhaps less than 20 total, to the market. The orange on the dial and in the hands is reminiscent of the orange used by Gulf Oil in the 1970s and the watch also occasionally receives the nickname the “Gulf” as a result.

It is hard to imagine that a more perfectly original and “New Old Stock” “Orange Boy” Autavia exists in the world, so it absolutely is a special opportunity for collectors of rare and important chronographs.
