Lot Essay

The reference 5074 was originally launched in yellow gold in 2001. In 2005, the watch was offered for the first time in pink gold and offered with a silvered dial and the rare black dial, as seen with the presently offered watch. Believed to have been made in less than 50 pieces in pink gold, the 5074 is no longer on offer by Patek Philippe. The black dial variant is believed to be the rarest of the two dial color options. The last known retail for the pink gold version is 542,000 Swiss Francs in 2014.

The watch chimes the hours, quarters, and minutes on Patek Philippe’s celebrated ‘cathedral’ gong system that gives this watch a rich and pleasingly clear tone when striking. To the best of our knowledge the present watch has never before been offered in public.
