"Labelled 'Special Reserve 1802, Produced, bottled and guaranteed by Oscar Acciaoly.' The oldest of a magnificent range of old Madeira brought to Christie's for sale in 1989. First noted prior to cataloguing and the next not long after: medium-deep amber with a very pronounced apple-green rim; refined, with my favourite ethereal 'crystallised violets' scent; sweet typically (for Terrantez) full-bodied but beautifully balanced, its power and richness coping well with its high acidity. Bought at Christie's by Robert Maliner and last tasted at the Hollywood Wine Society's outstanding Terrantez seminar, January 1990 *****" MB
