Lot Essay

In production between 1985 and 2007, reference 3945/1 is the very rare bracelet version of the iconic reference 3940, by many considered one of the most elegant and distinguished perpetual calendar timepieces ever made.

The present example is a very early iteration of the reference, featuring the first series dial, distinguished by the stepped center of the subsidiary dials at 3 and 9 o’ clock, and the lack of crosshair in the subsidiary dial at 3 o’ clock. First series dials are very rare, as they were produced only between 1985 and 1988, while second series were in production for about a decade (1988 – 1998) and the same is true for third series dials (1998 - 2007).

Consigned by its original owner the present ref. 3945/1 is preserved in very good, original overall condition. The presence of its full sale kit adds a further layer of appeal to this extremely rare, elegant and captivating timepiece.
