The present example of reference 6238 is distinguished not only by its black dial, but also by its superlative condition. Black dials are extremely rare on reference 6238 in sharp contrast with nearly contemporary references 6239/6240/6241 which instead present a well-balanced output of silvered and black dials. Not only the present example features this rare and highly appealing dial variation, but it is undoubtedly one of the best preserved such dials to appear on the market, with no trace of marks or scratches and flawlessly preserved scales and designations.
A final note of collectability is the presence of the original bracelet bearing endlinks stamped 71. A true collectible in itself, this coveted accessory is most probably original to the piece: the clasp is stamped 4.66, indicating the bracelet was manufactured in the fourth quarter of the year 1966, in perfect accord with a case manufactured at the end of 1965.
